Girls on the Run of Shreveport (GOTR Shreveport) and its Board of Directors are pleased to announce the addition of Allison Nolen as Executive Director. In this role, Ms. Nolen will be responsible for leading the organizational development and strategic planning of GOTR Shreveport, as well as overseeing program delivery throughout Caddo Parish.
Prior to joining GOTR Shreveport, Ms. Nolen began her career in education in 2005 teaching French at Captain Shreve High School in Caddo Parish. Expanding upon her experience, Ms. Nolen relocated to Washington, D.C. in 2008 to teach French and English at the Kirov Academy of Ballet, a boarding school for classical ballet dancers. Ms. Nolen rose to the position of Academic Director at Kirov, where she spent several years focusing on strengthening the academic department and leading the school through re-accreditation with the Middle States Association. Ms. Nolen returned to Shreveport in 2017.
Ms. Nolen graduated from Centenary College in 2003 with a Bachelor of Arts in French and a Minor in English. Ms. Nolen is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Technology for Educators from Johns Hopkins University.
Founded in 2013, GOTR Shreveport is a local chapter of Girls on the Run International. A 501c3 non-profit organization, Girls on the Run is a life-changing character development program for girls in 3rd – 8th grade. Creatively integrating running as a teaching tool, GOTR Shreveport inspires girls to be joyful, healthy, and confident, and equips young girls for a lifetime of healthy living choices, both physically and emotionally.
